My favorite car is the Mustang. I got a black 1995 V6 when I was 17 years old. I drove it hard and fast wherever I went and didn't take care of her very well. In the spring of 2001 she died on me and my insurance wouldn't pay to get her fixed, so I had to say goodbye to her.
I'm not going to sit here and say that the Mustang is the fastest sports car out there, because as we all know sadly, it's not. But I will say it's the most popular. It outsells the competition by a large number. I guess there's just something about the original "pony" car people can't live without.
I want to say thank you to Ford for upgrading the engine and transmission in the last few years, it was long overdue. I still think the boys in Detroit could do better and more to compete on the track with the others out there but I think they will eventually. Either way, I'd put my hard earned money down on a Ford anyday. But of course, that's just my humble opinion.
Oh, and if anyone from Ford is reading this, I'd be more than happy to be a owner of a free Mustang courtesy of Ford. :)
Interesting Story
In the Fall of 1998, I was test driving a black fully loaded GT. Being used to the humble power of my V6, I accelerated around the corner on a rain slicked street, fish tailed, went up on the curb, and wound up doing a 180 degree turn in the middle of the road. If I remember correctly, I killed a no parking sign, lol. The owner wasn't too happy when I returned the once pristine work of art as a damaged vehicle.
It wound up costing my insurance over $4,000, and raised my rates considerably. I'm a much better driver now... quit laughing... I really am! lol
The 1998 GT is my favorite Mustang. It was the last year of the old bodystyle and it had a lot of extras the older models didn't.
Maybe one day I'll get my dream car...
The Focus
