When I was born I was two months early, I weighed two pounds, three ounces and I was fourteen inches long. The doctors said that my biological mother attempted an abortion and waited three days before going to the hospital. This led to me getting spinal meningitis and they had to literally pull me out of the womb since there wasn't any amniotic fluid to help me out.
I stayed in the hospital for two months or so until I got big enough to go home. When I was eleven months old, after numerous doctors said I was just slow developing, I was diagnosed with spastic hemiplegic cerebral palsy. That basically means the wiring in my brain has a short in it which makes my movement on my left side jerky and stiff. I walk with a limp and my hand is in a fist nearly all the time. Thankfully, my right side is fine.
I've had a few surgeries to release tendons, shorten muscles and some other cool stuff to help me get around better. They have really helped me a lot and I wouldn't be in as good of shape as I am without them. I've also went through about thirteen years of physical therapy. I've been twisted into a pretzel more times than I'd like to count.
Growing up dealing with these things wasn't easy, and I've accepted that it never will be, as is no one's life. I just try to do the best I can with each day.
Finally, I just want to say that I forgive my mother for anything she may have done to cause the problems I had when I was born. I'm not going to say that I'm not mad at her at times, but I do forgive her. People make mistakes and that was a mistake she made. I love you, Mom.
